It’s warm, rich, and alluring, but also as timeless as resin hardening in late autumn sunlight. Wearing it feels like you’re dipping your toes into a history long since passed and partially forgotten. It’s a reflective, inward-focused scent, and asks the wearer to take stock of where they’ve been, and also of where they’re going. Ingredients: Meadowfoam seed oil, Benzoin Resin, Vetiver, Labdanum, Balsam Essential Oils, Vanilla Absolute Directions For Use: Wear as you would a perfume. Roll on pulse points, behind ears, temples, and body. Top Notes: The first notes of Amber form an alluring cocktail of golden woods, thick with moss, birches, and spicy balsam pines. True to its name, Amber’s fragrance fills the mind with hues of copper, saffron, and goldenrod. One can imagine they’re strolling through a curio shop from a bygone era, inhaling the dusty sunlight as it settles on leaded glass. Heart Notes: Amber’s vanilla-tinged sweetness quickly pushes to the forefront, and floating not far beneath is the earthy minerality of Vetiver. Labdanum’s dry musk adds a hint of ceremonial incense to the mix. While balsamy resin sits at the top of the fragrance, it’s swirled with pine, lemon, and loads of clean sunshine, making the fragrance feel like an antique that has been lovingly restored. Base Notes: Amber ends with a woodsy, metallic bouquet. It’s a forest where pine and cast iron trees cohabitate, a ship fashioned from copper and fir, or some such other steampunk fantasy. Underlying this dance of the organic and the industrial is the slightest hint of florality, rooting the greenery and tempering the metal’s sharp minerality. It works, and the minute Amber starts to go too far in one direction, the almost imperceptible florals pull it back to something pleasingly brassy and gentle at the same time. The Takeaway: Like the proverbial mosquito trapped in centuries-old rock, Amber transports the wearer to another place in time. Its soft tweed, pipe tobacco, and a well-worn leather chair.
