20th Politburo Standing Committee Xi Jinping 习近平 Xi Jinping is the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), chairman of the CCP Central Military Commission, president of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), and the chairman of the PRC Central Military Commission. Xi served in four provinces during his government and party career from 1969 to 2007: Shaanxi, Hebei, Fujian, and Zhejiang. He served as party secretary of Shanghai briefly in 2007 before being elected as a Politburo Standing Committee member. In 2008, he became vice president of the PRC.
